Disney Princesses have always been witnessed as joyful, cheerful girls, who are very brave and very beautiful. They sing, they dance. They fight all the difficulties they face in life with a smile on their face. They have always achieved their goals that they set to do. Shannon Dermody, however, imagined what if these beautiful Disney princesses had to face the present-day real world problems that we see in the dark side of this world.
Shannon Dermody, a Philadelphia-based photographer, recently published her photo series featuring Disney Princesses dealing with real world problems of alcoholism, domestic violence, pollution, rape, sex trafficking, suicide, drug abuse, etc. Shannon is trying to take us on a tour with her, out of our comfort zone, where she shows the dark aspect of our society via the medium of series of photographs.
Some of the photos may be quite graphic for some people.
Presenting Shannon Dermody concept to show awareness of real world problems:
Just for your information, as of 2017, there are eleven characters that are considered as Disney Princesses. They are Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel, and Merida.
If you liked this conceptual photograph series, then share it your family and friends to raise awareness. Thanks
